How carbamide helps sunflowers grow healthy and productive

Карбамід на соняшник

Sunflowers are one of Ukraine's most important oil crops, providing the country with high-quality oil and a profitable harvest for farmers.

To achieve a high sunflower yield, it is important not only to properly cultivate the soil and retain moisture in it, but also to provide sunflowers with the necessary nutrients.

One of the key fertilisers for this crop is carbamide for sunflowers, which effectively supports growth, development and increases yield. Urea contains nitrogen, an element without which intensive leaf growth and the formation of sunflower baskets are impossible. Nitrogen is a key nutrient for sunflowers, ensuring active growth of leaves and stems, development of the root system and increased yield. Throughout the growing season, sunflowers are particularly in need of nitrogen in the early stages of growth and during the formation of flower and seed organs. Its deficiency can lead to reduced yields and poor seed quality.

When to apply carbamide to sunflowers?

To get the most out of urea fertilisation for sunflowers, it is recommended to apply it in several stages:

  1. 4–6 leaf stage

At this stage, active basket formation occurs, so it is important to stimulate plant growth and development. Urea helps strengthen the immunity of sunflowers, increases the oil content of seeds and alleviates stress from heat or drought. The following are used effectively together with urea:

2. Phase 8–10 leaves

At this stage, the second foliar feeding is carried out to stimulate the root system, increase drought resistance and prevent diseases. The fertiliser rates are the same:

  • Сarbamide – 5 kg/ha
  • Magnesium sulphate – 5–10 kg/ha
  • Eurostim Boron – 1–1.5 l/ha

It is important to remember that these application rates are recommendations. Only an experienced agronomist can correctly determine which fertilisers to apply to sunflowers and when to apply them, taking into account the type of soil, the level of nutrient removal by the plant and other factors.

The right combination of fertilisers provides the plant with complete nutrition throughout the growing season, promotes strong stems, good phytosanitary condition of the leaves without signs of disease, and high yields.

Сarbamide for sunflowers is a reliable source of nitrogen that helps grow healthy and productive plants. The use of proper fertilisation and complex fertilisers for sunflowers allows farmers to obtain high-quality crops and maximum profits.
