Evrosem is the only seed company in Ukraine with a separate department for the study of Orobanche cumana. Every year, we conduct research on sunflower hybrids for resistance to downy mildew races, identify new races on the territory of the country and study the effect of chemical substances as inhibitors of the parasite.
This year, demo plots were laid in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. 60 sunflower hybrids, 360 samples of breeding material, 30 names of drugs and formulations are involved in the research.
The study is divided into 3 blocks:
Block 1: Testing of sunflower breeding material for resistance to local races of lupus.
Block 2: Testing registered and promising sunflower hybrids for resistance to lupus.
Block 3: Testing of inhibitors and stimulators of the germination of wolfberry.
Thus, the research carried out will allow to identify sunflower hybrids resistant to local races of the downy mildew and active substances capable of influencing the growth and development of the Orobanche cumana parasite.
