What is the ISA? The International Sunflower Association (ISA) is an international association that brings together individuals and legal entities interested in promoting technical progress in sunflower production and processing. The main goal of the organization is to improve international cooperation in agronomy, breeding, technology, and food safety, as well as to establish close ties between scientists and practitioners. Eurosem LLC is a member of the International Sunflower Association (ISA) and is honored to be part of this respected international community and to contribute to research on sunflowers, sunflower broomrape, and related topics.
The main management role is performed by the Board of Directors, elected by the General Assembly for a four-year term (2024–2028). The Board includes representatives from many countries, including France, Ukraine, Moldova, the United States, and other representatives from Argentina, Spain, India, Bulgaria, South Africa, and Romania.
Main areas of activity
ISA implements its mission through key activities:
- Organization of International Sunflower Conferences, held every four years.
- Coordination of Sunflower Symposia between conferences, dedicated to biology, breeding, diseases, chemical control, etc.
- An authoritative jury awards the Pustovoit Prize to the most renowned experts in the field.
- Publication of conference and symposium proceedings.
Scientific platform: HELIA journal
The scientific journal HELIA covers a wide range of topics: agronomy, breeding, biotechnology, oil quality, physiology, marketing, ecology, etc. Articles are available in English. Since 2025, the journal, which has been in existence since 1971, has been published through the Pen Publishing platform of the IRA (International Researchers Association, Turkey) with the support of the ISA.

ISA holds several important international events:
- The 21st International Sunflower Conference (ISC) was held on August 20-24, 2024, in Wuyuan, Inner Mongolia, China
- The 9th European Conference on Sunflower Biotechnology (SUNBIO 2025) is scheduled for November 19-21, 2025, in Antalya, Turkey
- The 2nd International Symposium on Ornamental (Confectionery) Sunflowers will also take place on November 20-22, 2025, in Antalya, Turkey.
